Earth Hour

Earth Hour

Justin and I were down in London for a rehearsal with the boys. During Earth Hour, they used the lights from Eddie’s bike to see their way through the music.

Just B.ca Relaunch!

Just B Site Relaunch

launch site

How exciting :) While waiting for the official start date of Viddyworks, I decided to brush up on my css skills by redesigning Justin’s website! I’ve come out the other end with another fantastic portfolio piece, and some new knowledge. I have now figured out how to implement music in a much more professional manner. The picture below is of a little flash music player, which lists several songs of Justin’s. I admit, it sticks out like, well, white on black on the home page. I will amend this as soon as possible! However, I am excited to be able to add value to new clients websites with this little bit of interactivity :) .

While redoing my other-half’s website, I decided to throw in some business cards too. I just had to keep the branding strong! Here are the cards:

So, as always, greener pastures ahead (pun very sorrily intended).  Peace out,

Good news everyone!

My business plan has officially been approved for phase 2 of the SEB program! I am ok to go ahead with my business, and my living expenses will be funded while I do so. Very exciting times my friends!

To celebrate, I went out and bought a filing cabinet, and a copy of Simply Accounting :)

Moving along…

Yes, things are moving along nicely. As the big launch approaches (April 1st), I’ve been scrambling to get everything ready.

My website is about 95% there, the business cards are being sent off to the printers today, the brochures are coming along nicely. Here’s something I’ve overlooked though; this blog. It looks like any other wordpress blog at the moment, and doesn’t integrate with my website at all! So, now begins my first ever attempt at customizing a WP blog. If all goes well, I’ll be adding it to my list of offered services.

Wish me luck!

Oh, and check out my new business card design while you’re at it:

Kermit was right…

…or was he? I’ve been doing a lot of research over the last year or so, and I’ve made a lot of little changes. And you know what? It is easy being green.

I’ve always been a stickler for the environment (just ask anyone who went to college with me). I’ve always recycled, composted, used the right kind of light bulbs, and brought my own bags to the grocery store. But it’s time to take it up a notch. With the help of a little tree-free book called Green Clean by Linda Mason Hunter & Mikki Halpin, I have resolved to ban all nasty horrible chemical cleaning products from our house! This means no more bleach, bowl brite, fantastic, windex, vim, or rona brand carpet cleaner. All of these will be replaced with home made, and environmentally friendly cleaning products made with the following ingredients:

  • Borax
  • Washing Soda
  • Castile Soap (Liquid & Flakes)
  • Club Soda
  • Distilled White Vinegar
  • Baking Soda
  • Lemon Juice
  • Pure Essential Oils
  • Boiled Water

That’s right folks, you can clean your entire house with this short list of friendly ingredients, even surfaces you’ve cut meat on (boiled water, vinegar, baking soda), and the bathroom. And the really good news is that you won’t get cancer, or any respiratory diseases related to the abrasive cleaners we’re all so used to! At least, I won’t ;)

Other environmental changes include:

So we start with the easy changes. The kitty litter has proven to be excellent so far, much better than the evil clay stuff, and the cleaning changes are far more simple than expected. Why, just the other day I cleared a particularly nasty clog in the kitchen sink by pouring a mixture of boiling water, baking soda, and vinegar down the drain.
